Who we are
This policy is from OBST LIGHTING ELECTRICAL CO., LTD ("OBST", "we", "us"), a company registered in Nigeria (RC 1974274), 3, Jesus Close, Along Oyedele Street, Igbo Elerin, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria.
It covers the OBST wholesale ordering app for iPhone and Android and its web version (together, "the app"), and this website, obstlighting.com. The app is for our wholesale customers: shops and trade buyers who order lighting from our Lagos, Abuja and Kano branches.
This website
obstlighting.com has no accounts, forms, cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which handles technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
If you tap a WhatsApp, phone or email link, that app opens and its own privacy terms apply to what you send.
What the app collects
When you register
- Your phone number and a password. We store the password only in scrambled (hashed) form, so nobody at OBST can read it.
- Member (your shop or company name), member name (your own name), company name if you give one, your city and your shop address.
- Whether you want promotions and price messages from us on WhatsApp. This is off unless you turn it on.
- The language you use in the app (English or Chinese).
When you use the app
- Your orders: products, quantities, prices, discounts and coupons, delivery address, order progress, and your account balance.
- Photos and files you choose to send: payment screenshots, photos of goods you return, pictures in chat, and photos with reviews or complaints. The app asks for camera or photo library access only so you can take or pick these; it does not look at your other photos.
- Chat messages between you and your sales rep, and complaints or suggestions you send to OBST management.
- Reviews you leave on delivered orders (stars, tags, comments).
- For refunds to your bank: bank name, account name and account number. If you tick "save this account", we keep them for your next refund.
- A push notification token for your phone and whether it is iPhone or Android, so we can send you order updates.
- Sign-in records: the time and IP address of each sign-in, and failed password attempts (after five wrong tries the account is locked for 15 minutes).
- Error reports. When the app runs into a problem, it sends us the app version, your phone model and operating system version, the screen you were on, your customer number, and the last few steps you took in the app (for example "placed order" or "uploaded payment screenshot"). Error reports do not include your password, your chat messages or the products in your orders.
The app does not use your location, contacts or microphone, and it has no advertising or third-party analytics.
How we use it
- To review and approve your account, and link it to your branch and your sales rep.
- To show you the stock and trade prices of your branch.
- To take your orders, check your payments, pack and ship your goods, and handle returns and refunds.
- To let you chat with your sales rep and answer your complaints and suggestions.
- To send you notifications about your account and orders, and, only if you turned it on, promotions on WhatsApp.
- To keep accounts secure and to find and fix problems in the app.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by other companies.
Who can see it
- OBST staff, each only for their job: your sales rep, the warehouse team at your branch (for packing, shipping and returns) and OBST management.
- Our server hosting provider, which runs the computers the app's data is kept on.
- Push notification services. Notifications go through Expo and then Apple or Google, depending on your phone.
- WhatsApp (Meta), only if you turned on WhatsApp messages: your phone number and the message we send you.
- The developer who builds and maintains the app for us, who receives error reports so they can fix problems.
- Authorities, if Nigerian law or a valid legal request requires it.
Where it is kept
The app's data is kept on OBST's server. When the app officially launches, that is a cloud server rented in our company's name. The app talks to the server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Photos you upload can only be opened through links that expire after one hour.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If your account is deleted, we delete your personal details, except order and payment records we need to keep for accounting, tax and legal reasons. Expired sign-ins are removed automatically.
Your choices and rights
- You can change your details and turn WhatsApp messages on or off in the app's profile page, or ask your sales rep to do it.
- You can turn off notifications in your phone's settings.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can also object to how we use it, and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Deleting your account
To delete your account and your personal information, email info@obstlighting.com or tell your sales rep, and include the phone number you registered with. We may call or message that number to check the request really comes from you.
Children
The app is for shop owners and trade buyers. It is not meant for children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is important, we will also tell you in the app.
